Baileys Irish Cream

If you would like to celebrate St. Patrick’s day in style, I recommend trying to make your own Irish cream and tasty Irish cream cocktails. In the UK, Bailey’s is the most popular variety of Irish cream, its delicious but quite expensive. Make your own with the following recipe, it’s simple, cheaper and tastes just as good:

Ingredients: 1 cup of Scotch or Irish Whisky
1 can of condensed milk (sweetened milk)
2 teaspoons of instant coffee
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
2 tablespoons of chocolate syrup
3 eggs
2 cups od whipping (heavy) cream

Simply blend all the ingredients together (using a blender) until the mixture is frothy. Once refrigerated it keeps for up to 4 weeks. Be careful however as it does contain raw eggs which can be a salmonella risk.

I prefer to drink the Bailey’s in a glass with ice, it also tastes great in coffee.

If you are more adventurous then you could try one of the following delicious cocktails:

Slippery Nipple - (1/3 of one shot of Irish Cream/Butterscotch Schnapps/Kahlua)Pour the Irish cream in a shot glass. carefully add the Kahlua on top so that it doesn’t mix (pour it onto the side of the glass). Then slowly add the Butterscotch Schnapps on the top.

B-51 - mix together 2 parts Irish Cream to one part Kahlua, serve in a low ball glass.

Back Street Banger - One shot of bailey’s mixed with one shot of Jack Daniel’s, usually served with ice in low ball glass

amaretto and Irish Cream - Mix one part Irish cream with one part amaretto and serve in a low ball glass.
