Chinese Low Mein
Lo mein is a popular Chinese noodle dish, very similar to the Japanese dish yakisoba. Lo Mein traditionally consists of soft noodles, whereas chow Mein crispy noodles. Tradition Chinese Low Mein differs from the popular western dish as its more of a soup based meal with the broth served in a separate dish.
| Ingriedients | 1/2 lb egg noodles |
| 1/2 lb steak | |
| One teaspoon of Cornstarch (cornflour) | |
| One cup chicken stock | |
| One tablespoon of Soy sauce | |
| One tablespoon of oyster light sauce | |
| Optional teaspoon of sherry | |
| One clove of garlic | |
| One teaspoon of sesame oil | |
| 2 tablespoons of ground nut oil | |
| one stalk green onion | |
| Pot of hot water |
- Boil the egg noodles fresh ones are best), drain and rinse with cold water.
- Slice the onion into strips.
- Mix the chicken stock, soy sauce and oyster sauce together.
- Slice the steak into strips and marinate in sauce for at least fifteen minutes.
- Heat your wok and add the two tablespoons of oil. Brown the garlic and add your chopped steak/onions.
- Add the sauce mixture and stir until thickened.
- Add the green onions and sesame oil
- Drop the noodles into the hot water to reheat (stir for one minute).
- Drain the noodles and serve, pour meat and sauce over the top.
