Cooked Cheese Spaetzle

A spaetzle is often served as a side dish with a sauce.

Ingredients: 500 Grams of flour
5 Eggs
175ml(about a third of a pint) of water
Cheese
1 small Onion
Salt to season
  • Mix the ingredients in a mixer, adding just enough water so an elastic dough forms
  • Boil a large pot of salted water
  • With a grater, grate the elastic dough into the hot water
  • When the dough pieces are cooked they will rise to the top, remove them at this point with a spoon.
  • Place the cooked spaetzles into a shallow dish and cover with grated cheese
  • Saute some onions in beer, then fry thin in a small amount of oil
  • Place the fried onions over the cooked cheese spaetzles
