German Beer Soup
German recipes can sometimes seem a bit strange, officially called Biersuppe mit Milch, is a bit unusual but I was pleasantly surprised when I tried it out. It serves around 4 people. It is best served with crutons (chopped fried bread)
| Ingredients: | 300ml (half pint) of German Beer |
| Juice of half a lemon | |
| A small piece of cinnamon stick | |
| 2 egg yolks | |
| 1 pint/ 600ml of milk | |
| Sugar and Salt | |
| Croutons (Fried bread pieces) to garnish |
- Place the German beer, lemon juice and cinnamon in a saucepan and gently heat.
- Heat the milk and then pour over the egg yolks (stirring well)
- Add the milk mixture to the hot beer
- Season with sugar and salt
- Serve with garnish of croutons (chopped fried bread)
