Oregano
Oregano, native to southern Europe is popular in Greek and Italian dishes. It is commonly used in in tomato sauces and meat dishes. Along with Basil, Oregano can often be found in Italian cooking and combines particularly well with pickled olives.
Oregano typically has a warm and bitter taste, although there are many different varieties each with different flavors. This herb, because of its high oil content, retains its flavor and aroma when it is dried. In fact, it is preferable to use this in its dry form as it often has more flavor that way. Note that when using dried oregano you should reduce the amount by around half.

High in antioxidants, oreganos health benefits include lowing the risk of cancer and heart disease. Containing thymol and carvacrol , it also has excellent Anti-Bacterial properties
